Sumitra

Sumitra’s path has been one of Coming Home, through learning to love and accept herself. As a young woman she became a single mother and began an arduous journey through grief and fear. Great good fortune brought wise teachers along the way to guide her through these difficult times.

Over the years Sumitra has learned to stop and turn to face the “lost children” that show up in her inner life – the experiences from early on that caused her to suppress her authentic feelings in order to feel loved and safe. This work created a deep interest in Inner Child work, which Sumitra loves to explore with clients. As children we have little choice other than to comply with the authorities in our lives, and then often spend much time as adults learning to undo the harm that resulted from that compliance.

Sumitra’s studies and practices of meditation, Compassionate Communication, Hakomi Therapy and Inquiry practices all contribute to her current work. She has practiced and facilitated Somatic Inquiry sessions since 2012, exploring the mechanisms of mind-body connection and how to find and release stuck energies. By bringing what has been stuck in the unconscious mind into conscious awareness, and skillfully inquiring into the stories, beliefs and bodily experiences that show up, Magic happens.

Besides offering 1:1 private inquiry sessions with individuals, Sumitra offers classes for women around compulsive eating, a deep look at the stuck beliefs that cause us to look outside ourselves for comfort.

She also facilitates couples and family members in a deep-listening process for healing within relationships. These sessions can also be scheduled singly or as a package of 4 sessions.

Sumitra lives in Eugene, Oregon and has 4 grown children and 6 grandchildren.
